‘Cos I’m Freeman

$90.00 - $855.00

Cathy Freeman, 1994, running past the Northcote Koori Mural by artist Megan Evans – in collaboration with members of the local Aborigines Advancement League. A section of the mural is based on the photography by German anthropologist Hermann Klaatsch of male Aboriginal elders in neck chairs in Wyndham, Western Australia, 1906. This photo appeared on the front page of the Herald Sun, June 24, 1994, just months before Freeman won gold at the Commonwealth Games and was criticised by some media commentators, Games officials and members of the public, for running a lap of honour with both the Australian flag and the Indigenous flag.

It was Cathy’s idea to run past the mural for this photo.

The photographic prints are made to order in Australia through CPL digital onto your choice of giclee, lustre, matte or glossy paper.

Giclee, an archival pigment printing process of extraordinary quality, offers brilliant colour possibilities of rich, intense blacks, crisp, beautiful highlights, and outstanding precision and control. Giclee is the most premium option for your print.

Lustre offers a hybrid finish between glossy and matte with a classy, muted appearance. Matte offers a non-reflective, sleek look, and glossy produces a vibrant, shiny finish. All surface types produce high quality prints.
